Political Party
The New National Party (NNP) is one of Grenada’s two major political parties. It was formed in 1984 through the merger of the Grenada National Party, National Democratic Party, and Grenada Democratic Movement. The party first won government in 1984 under Herbert Blaize. The NNP is traditionally associated with the colour green and the House as its political symbol. Over its history, the NNP has formed government on several occasions. After its 1984 victory, the NNP later returned to government under Dr. Keith C Mithcell in 1995, and achieved parliamentary victories in 1999, 2013 and 2018 including winning all 15 constituencies in 1999, 2013 and 2018. The NNP describes its priorities around areas including economic growth, education, healthcare, environmental protection, tourism, youth empowerment, transparency, accountability and inclusion.
